About Project

Located in Downtown Charleston, 25 Calhoun Street is a 63,000 SF, four-story steel framed Class A office building over a 20,500 SF partially enclosed parking deck. Using innovative design and lightweight materials, PES was able to remove over 50% of the precast piles from the previous design concepts for a great savings to the construction budget. The design required resistance of hurricane force winds, high seismic loads, as well as V-Zone wave forces and FEMA requirements for buildings located below base flood elevations. Our designers used BIM in the design and construction administration process and provided all steel connection designs to comply with stringent code requirements for structures located in high seismic zones. This project achieved LEED certification and received several Exemplary Performance Points including recycled content of construction material.
