About Project

With an increase in global demand, German Pellets, Europe’s leading producer of wood pellets, chose to build their first state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Woodville, Texas. The facility consists of multiple building structures, large silos for storage, log processing and product-specific machinery designed for large scale pellet production. Automation and processes are monitored and controlled at a central three-story production office building and finishing facility.

PES also provided the design and details for the manufacturer’s new shipping facility in Port Arthur. The 75,000 SF, two-story pellet loading and silo storage facility consisted of steel framing and insulated metal panels. The facility has five silos all supported on concrete foundations that are approximately 4,500 cubic yards and more than six feet thick. Below grade there are over 1,000 6×65 precast piles and 100 eighty foot long H-piles supporting the structure. The facility also includes a 4,000 liner foot pneumatic conveyor system and can also store up to 75,000 tons of pellets at any time.
