About Project
Joseph Wheeler High School, home of the Wildcats, was founded in 1965 and is part of the Cobb County School System.
PES provided the design and details for a new 36,200 square foot, two-story competition gymnasium, and a 22,300 square foot, one-story performing arts center to the existing campus. The structural system of both buildings consisted of steel framing with infilled CMU and metal stud walls.
The new gymnasium, which serves as a focal point not only for the school but for the community, showcases the state champion basketball program and seats approximately 3,000 spectators. The new Performing Arts Center seats approximately 750 people and has a new Black Box Theater.
