Biography

Katy brings a unique blend of technical expertise and passion for structural engineering to PES. Her journey began with her father, who often stopped at construction sites to explore them together—sparking her early curiosity about building processes and design. Growing up in El Salvador, she witnessed firsthand the critical role of structural integrity through several powerful earthquakes, experiences that deeply impressed upon her the importance of resilient building practices.

After moving to Marietta, GA, in seventh grade, Katy pursued her academic career at Georgia Tech, earning both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis. Her specialty lies in wood design, particularly for multifamily housing, where her skills shine in creating safe, efficient, and sustainable structures. Katy finds inspiration in PES’s diverse portfolio, which allows her to engage with a wide variety of projects and expand her technical knowledge.

Outside of work, Katy enjoys staying active through fitness activities and spending cherished moments with her two-year-old son. Looking ahead, she is eager to strengthen her professional relationships with architects, aiming to become a trusted advisor known for her collaborative approach and dedication to exceptional design. Katy’s commitment to continual growth and her appreciation for PES’s culture make her a valued member of the team and a dynamic force in the field of structural engineering.
