PES provided the structural design of East Forsyth High School for Forsyth County Schools. Designed to accommodate 2,100 students, the 390,000-square-foot facility rests on an 88-acre campus and provides 109 various instructional spaces that support the ever-changing educational environment. The structural system consisted of steel framing with elevated composite steel slabs, steel joist roof, slab-on-grade, and infilled CMU and metal stud walls supported on shallow foundations. Capitalizing on underutilized spaces, the school’s design featured many unique elements, including a sunken outdoor amphitheater, creating an immersive gathering space and multi-modal learning opportunities.
