PES provided the structural design for the adaptive reuse and new construction of the 111,000 square foot, 22-acre property accommodating the existing Motherhouse for the Sisters of St. Joseph of Chambéry, reimagined as One Park, a 294-unit multifamily housing development.

The Sisters will maintain their presence in a segregated area of the existing building, but the remainder of the existing structure will be renovated for its new purpose as a mix of studio, one-, two-, and three-bedroom residential apartments. The existing chapel was also renovated for amenity use for the apartments. The project also included a four-story addition over a one-story parking deck.

The structure of the 230,000 square foot addition utilized Type V wood framing supported on a composite steel transfer level over parking. The residential levels utilize pre-engineered wood roof trusses with wood roof sheathing and pre-engineered wood floor trusses supported on wood framed walls. The structure is supported on shallow foundations with ground improvements using micropiles.
