Mary Jo Butcher

Mary Jo is a marketing and communications professional with nearly two decades of experience supporting strategic growth in the architecture, engineering, and construction (AEC) industry. After earning her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Sociology from Georgia State University in 2005, she joined PES Structural Engineers the following year as an Administrative Assistant. Her early enthusiasm for client engagement and marketing quickly evolved into a dynamic career—driven by curiosity, adaptability, and a deep alignment with PES’s mission and values.

As Senior Marketing & Communications Manager, Mary Jo leads initiatives that elevate PES’s brand presence, business development efforts, and client relationships. She collaborates across teams to develop compelling proposals and presentations, streamline communication strategies, and grow the firm’s visibility through targeted outreach—both digital and in-person.

Mary Jo brings a passion for thoughtful storytelling, consistent branding, and strategic communication that authentically reflects the value PES delivers. Known for her collaborative spirit and ability to connect ideas and people, she thrives in fast-paced environments and plays a vital role in PES’s continued success.

Mary Jo is also a dedicated leader within the professional community. She served as President of the SMPS Atlanta Chapter, following prior roles as Director-at-Large of Sponsorship, Communications, and Programs. She has also served as Sponsorship Chair for the SMPS Southeast Regional Conference and has co-chaired the chapter’s Social & Engagement Committee for the past four years.

In addition to her SMPS leadership, Mary Jo is actively involved in CREW Atlanta (Commercial Real Estate Women) and the Georgia Chapter of the Association for Learning Environments (A4LE), expanding her network and insights across key markets.
