PES provided the structural design for the renovations and additions to Charles L. Gideons Elementary for the Atlanta Public Schools system. Located in Pittsburgh, one of the oldest neighborhoods in Atlanta, the project not only brought a much-needed renewal to the area, but it played a vital role in shaping young lives for years to come.

The project included 36,644 square feet of total renovation and 41,677 square feet of new construction to accommodate 39 instructional units and an FTE of 600 students. The structural system of the new addition consisted of steel framing, steel bar joist roof framing, metal deck roof sheathing, reinforced slab-on-grade, composite steel elevated floors, masonry and metal stud exterior walls supported on shallow foundations.
