Learning By Design, Outstanding Project for 2022 in the Early Childhood/Elementary School Renovation/Adaptive Reuse/Restoration/Entire School/Campus Building category
PES provided the structural design for Innovation Academy, a new 245,000 square foot, three-story STEM high school for Fulton County Schools.
Housed in the old Milton High School, the structural system of the facility consisted of steel framing, elevated composite steel slabs, steel joist and pre-engineered cold-formed steel trussed roofing, infilled CMU and metal stud walls, and slab-on-grade supported by shallow foundations on an aggregate pier foundation system.
The facility provides relevant instruction in the STEM sectors of Information Technology, Engineering, and Health Sciences and can accommodate up to 1,500 students interested in pursuing the sciences.
