February 2017 Promotions

Please join us in congratulating the following employees on their recent promotions:


Daniel Silvestri, EIT – Project Engineer Daniel first became interested in engineering when he began working
with his grandfather in the underground utilities industry as a teenager. This experience drew him closer to Civil
Engineering, so he attended Southern Polytechnic State University and received his Bachelor’s Degree in May 2015.
Daniel was recently promoted to Project Engineer where he designs and models buildings related to the industrial

Matthew Baker, EIT – Project Engineer Matthew was first introduced to PES when he attended a Structural Engineers Association
of South Carolina presentation at Clemson during the fall of 2015 and, as they say, the rest is history. After completing his Master’s
Degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering, he joined PES because he’d have the opportunity to work on
a variety of projects across the nation and to learn from a large collection of structural engineers. Matthew was recently promoted to
Project Engineer where his primary responsibilities include the analysis and design of various structural systems. Matthew can be

William James, EIT – Project Engineer You could say that engineering is in his blood. With multiple Civil Engineers
in his family and his love for math and science, William was destined to be in the industry. Hailing from Charleston,
South Carolina, he received his Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Structural Engineering from
Clemson University in December 2015. Recently promoted to Project Engineer, his primary responsibilities include
designing structural elements using different materials in order to withstand different amounts and types of loads. When
not at work, he enjoys playing golf or dropping a line in the closest fishing hole. William can be reached at



Mary Jo Butcher, Marketing Manager Mary Jo, or MJ as we call her, started at PES in 2006 as an Administrative Assistant and regularly volunteered to help with various Marketing events and client activities. Over time, she has used her proactive attitude and organizational knowledge to effectively shift into her role of Marketing Manager. In addition to her heavy involvement in the many client-focused events at PES, Mary Jo is active in the Atlanta Chapter of SMPS and currently serves as the 2016-2017 Director-at-Large-for Sponsorship in addition to her role on the Membership committee.
