PES Employee Showcase

This month, we continue our #EmployeeShowcase series with the incomparable Matt Sweeney! As PES’ Production Technology Manager, he’s been an integral part of our team for over 14 years. He has worked on numerous projects including high-level industrial facilities, mixed-use developments, multi-family projects, educational facilities, and hospitality projects.

As the Production Technology Manager, Matt wears a lot of hats. A few of the primary responsibilities include assessing and integrating new or emerging technologies with our workflows considering the current and future needs of PES, developing and documenting processes around technology with project teams, and even managing the IT side of things.

Get to know more about Matt:

How long have you been at PES and what is your current role?
“I have been with PES for over 14 years – I took a brief three-year hiatus while I explored other industries and came back to the firm in 2015.”

What advice would you share with a young engineer?
“Find the people that you like to work with. Don’t be afraid to ask questions and have discussions about the things you want. Then work smart and hard for those things.”

What has been your favorite project(s) that you have worked on at PES and why?
“This is an interesting question as I’m not the typical structural engineer at PES. For me, I would say my favorite project has been the transition and development of Revit into our workflows. I feel like this project began in 2006 and is ever-evolving.”

Are you involved with any committee and/or professional organizations?
“I am involved with the SEI Digital Design Committee, ACEC GA IT Forum, and the ACEC GA Technology Task Force. I have also been involved with a few BIMForum Task Forces as well as a member of the Digital Built Environment Institute.”

When you are not working, how do you spend your free time?
“Family adventures, mountain biking, bike racing, and Van-Life.”
