PES provided the structural design for Assembly Studios located in DeKalb County. Operated by NBCUniversal, the development features 17 buildings, including purpose-built studios and sound stages, Class A office space, mill/assembly areas, parking, and bungalows.
The structural system for all studio buildings consists of load-bearing concrete tilt walls with steel roof framing along with steel-framed offices that align the studios, supported by shallow foundations. All office space consists of composite steel floors with steel braces and columns supported by shallow foundations bearing on rammed aggregate pier ground improvement.
The structural system for all mill buildings consists of steel framing with steel braces and CMU exterior walls supported by shallow foundations bearing on rammed aggregate pier ground improvement. The warehouse space consists of steel framing with tilt exterior walls.
We also provided the design of the deep foundations for the parking deck using gravity and lateral foundation loads provided by the precaster.
